Clean, clear & concise

Design principles go way beyond colour, shape and typography.  Design has to communicate, it has a narrative or a message. This makes design a language of sorts, a dialect that a designer has to not only be fluent in but able to interpret and translate from the ideas of its clients into something engaging for the end user.

Actively Outdoors

I was approached by Actively outdoors to update their logo for a branding refresh, they was delighted with the results.  Using an earthly palette and strong shapes I aimed to create a bold logo that could be used on and offline for all their marketing needs.

"Simplicity is the key to an effective logo, too complicated and its message is lost along with the impact"

Reflex Email

This HTML newsletter was designed as a reflex email for when a customer returns from their trip.  HTML emails take a very different approach to standard HTML practices, the rules are always changing with each new way to view them be it new email apps or even device support.  Fall backs are always in place to ensure the message always gets through.

"E-mail newsletters are a delicate balance of  subject, content and relevance, if any of these consistently miss their intended target then they are likely to unsubscribe"

Display Banners

The backbone of an e-commerce business is its presence outside of its own website, google ads, social media and re-targeting campaigns all have a vital role to play in the success of a business.

"This banner type nearly always conform to rules set by its host, this adds another layer of  difficulty to make them effective, but also the boundary can be a great way of getting straight to the point"

Web Pages

My ideal web page is one that entertains & informs in a clearly laid out logical package, I don't want to send a user scrolling for something they cant find, and I don't want to misguide them somewhere that isn't of interest.

"One of the most common challenges I have faced in my years of design is overstuffed pages with non relevant and unreadable keyword heavy type, I have no problem adding in an extra click or splitting content into logical pages if the user will benefit, after all it is intended for them"
